A renewable alternative to noisy diesel, propane, and gas generators, the Coleman solar backup power kit provides an immediate charge when exposed to daylight, even on cloudy days, and is an ideal back up power source for cabins, RVs, or boats. The charger is plug-in-play compatible for quick connections, and a cigarette lighter adaptor and a battery clamp are also included with the panel. Over and beyond that, the kit is able to charge multiple batteries at once. The kit is backed by a 2-year warranty. What's in the Box 3 solar panels, charge controller, 3 power extension cables, 3-into-1 wire junction harness, cigarette lighter adapter, battery clamp connector, instruction manual, and mounting screws.

The charge controller is adequate to the task but there's no display, other than "charging/charged" lights. If you want to know your amps or voltage, you're out of luck (without a separate ammeter). The power inverter is nice, though at 200W its overkill for a 55W (max) panel set. At noon in Seattle in early March I saw a peak of 40W in direct sun, so the rating seems realistic. In shade they produce (for me, anyway) about half an amp, which is around 7 watts. If you consider a Gator battery (small motorcycle-style gel battery) is 12Ah, that means it could charge one fully in about 5 hours of sun or 2 days of shade. 4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Great kit: too bad about warranty service from Coleman/ICP Solar By Gavin Peters I picked up this kit for use on my boat. It's great; I can get out one, two or three panels as I need charging; I even sometimes have one panel out while sailing, which is enough to run my autopilot. It's very good. The charge controller I got works well, too. HOWEVER, one of the panels I was sent arrived broken. It took me eight weeks of back and forth with ICP solar to get that one panel replaced. What a pain! 5 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Coleman solar kit By M. Hartke I purchased a coleman 45w kit from amazon and was very pleased. The panels were very well packed and looked great. Everything works as it should with no problem. They had them in stock, i received them only 2 days after I purchased them. I would buy them again.
